Typically wearing a pierced scowl, she has the tendency to intimidate some even before getting to speak to them.Kimiko is most known across the city-states for her musical performances. Using an aetheroelectric guitar, she can be found in various dive bars across the realm, bellowing out lyrics to an angry hard rock sound. Her most common haunt is a particular venue called "The Grind," where she is the master of ceremonies for its events.Unlike many bards, Kimiko's lyrics often carry an accusatory connotation instead of a celebratory one. Rather than extol life's beauties, she would instead critique its injustices and those that perpetuate them. Her ire is therefore most frequently aimed at the rich, privileged and decadent who stand to gain from others' misery. Using the power of song, she seeks to inspire and rally others to a cause of solidarity and unity throughout Eorzea and elsewhere.

  • Other Hingans: While having disdain for her homeland's practices, Kimiko does not dislike the people from there. She may find some mutual ground with other Hingans, but could be extra wary of them, depending on the character.

  • Criminals: Kimiko has some affinity for those on the opposite side of the law., but may be wary of their intentions.

Negative

  • Intolerance: Kimiko severely dislikes intolerant people, especially on the basis of race, class, gender or sexuality. Friction on these topics should be kept purely in-character.

  • Authority figures: Kimiko does not respect figures of authority or officers of the law and may be strongly confrontational when dealing with either.

  • Rich people: Kimiko may be much slower to extend trust to characters of a wealthy or rich background.

Yasmina Rhelsa: Kimiko is in an open relationship and presently has two partners. Yasmina is one of these two partners. The two have a long history stretching back several years bearing both teasing and flirting. Yasmina and Kimiko frequently engage in several acts of rebellion with each other.Daiyu Malqir: Kimiko's second partner. A Xaela facing a grave affliction for whom Kimiko has vowed to protect. Like with Mina, the two share a similar streak of rebellion.Saya Kiyohara: A close friend, also born and raised in Koshu. The two have routinely discussed the challenges and beauties of being Hingan women in a foreign world.Law: Hyuran anarchist. Other partner of Yasmina. A shared worldview and general opposition towards law enforcement have created a natural bond between the two.

Unbound Sigil

Momoko Shinohara: A Raen for whom Kimiko has a long and complex history with. One which the two continue to grapple with today.Huck Highstrike: Long-standing companion and colleague. Kimiko and Huck have collaborated on several missions. She maintains a soft spot for him, manifested through multiple drinking games and shared stories.Elena Kier: Long-standing companion and colleague. Engaged in several shared missions and battles, with more established together to come.Telryn: A mage for whom Kimiko shares a similar propensity towards ink. The two have known each other for a short time, but have manifested several collaborations due to their mutual talent.Kazuhi Shinohara: Leader of the Unbound Sigil. Currently feared. She will not admit to this.

The Grind

The Grind is a rebellious dive bar. Kimiko has lived and worked here for most of her adult life.

Krass [NPC]: Owner of the Grind. A Garlean woman that has taken Kimiko under her wing. She is her mentor for music and has inspired a large portion of Kimiko's adult lifestyle. Kimiko's time beneath Krass's thumb has served to harden many of her soft edges.Koharu Shibiku: A dancer and fellow performer. Koharu has contributed to the Grind in the past. The two have a lengthy history together with shared roots within Hingahi. They remain close to this day.Marigold Hortensia: A Miqo'te woman who performs at the Grind. Kimiko has assisted her on a dangerous mission in the past to rescue her sister from danger within Garlemald.Kiht'tan Chalako: A Miqo'te woman and Kimiko's guitar student. Kiht'tan is often the source of endless grief for Kimiko due to her raw strength.Giacomo Rivoli: A mysterious pizza jester. May or may not be real.

Long-standing friends that Kimiko has not recently encountered.

Drohkya Dotharl: A weapons dealer and one of the first people Kimiko met in Eorzea. Drohkya and Kimiko have engaged in several mutually beneficial arrangements in the past.Solin Dotharl, Lunai Dotharl, Teraq Dotharl: A trio of color-coded Xaela triplets. Along with Drohkya, they have worked together on numerous missions.Ajirai Dotharl: Mentor figure who once pierced Kimiko's face. This began a long enchantment with piercings overall, which has in turn led to her current career as a piercer.Yigen Dotharl: A co-worker of Drohkya's and mechanic. Has collaborated with Kimiko on various musical projects in the past.Remi Onishi: An upbeat woman who frequently looked to Kimiko for guidance.Nagisa Shibata: Similarly from Koshu. Nagisa disapproves of Kimiko's tastes. The two have butted heads several times, but Kimiko maintains a soft spot for Nagisa all the same.Nadeshiko Seiwa: A friend for whom Kimiko has provided support. She has beaten up several people who have given Nadeshiko grief.

Family and Associates

Kimiko's family. Rarely active in her life in the present. Largely not viewed in a positive light.

Kazuo Mototsuka [NPC]: Kimiko's father and magistrate within the city of Bukyo. Due to his position, he is rarely seen. Kimiko and Kazuo have a long-standing feud which provided for her initial coming to Eorzea.Hiroko Mototsuka [NPC]: Kimiko's mother. While Kimiko's opinion is substantially higher on her mother, she nonetheless views her as an enabler for her father's long-standing behavior.Makoto Takahashi [NPC]: Retainer to Kimiko's father and frequent messenger on his behalf. Viewed in low esteem.
